EXPLORE GLOBAL OPPORTUNITIES IN NURSING

Nurses figure among the long term shortage skill list in many of the developed countries such as Canada, USA, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait and Oman etc. Demand for nurses will continue to increase dramatically within next few years.

Benefits of studying nursing........
The main advantage is job scope. The health care industry is a booming one, showing no signs of slowing down. That has how the nursing field been developing in the past few decades.
When it comes to job oriented courses after 12th science, nursing really stands out which was highly emphasized in the previous blog. I'm delighted to share with you that there are many opportunities available to serve internationally, especially as the world becomes more like a global village. If you want to make a difference in global health, there are multiple global health opportunities for you; it's a matter of finding a match for your clinical skills, academic credentials, personal and family limitations, time commitment, and state of health. After completing diploma course in Nursing/B Sc (followed by M Sc) in nursing, graduates may easily land job in Government hospitals, nursing homes or private clinics. It all depends on the aptitude of the student.

The best thing is that nursing degree can help you work abroad!
Yes, you read it right! Nursing is one such profession that can help you emigrate abroad and work there. Let me explain it to you in detail. Developed countries like Canada, USA, Ireland, New Zealand and Australia have been facing shortage, when it comes to qualified nurses. The number of nurse graduates in these countries is quite less than the actual demand of nurses.
At the same time, healthcare is a sector that these developed countries takes up seriously. In a bid to bridge the gap of demand and supply in case of qualified nurses, they have opened doors for qualified nurses from countries like India!
In case of countries like Australia and New Zealand, they have relaxed the emigration process in case of nurses! Nurses are even allowed to bring with them their family members and spouse also! Visa processing in case of nursing professionals is given priority!
The salary is the best part when it comes to working as a nurse abroad. I can say that they very well know the worth of a qualified nurse!
Compensation, pay packs and perks are much attractive in case of nurses working abroad. Foreign exchange rates play a big role. Nurses working in countries like develop countries can earn as much as 40-50 Lakhs INR a year!
Similar are the figures in case of countries like UK, Middle Eastern nations and New Zealand! Benefits of working in the Middle East are Tax-free salaries, free accommodation, Free flights, generous annual leave, and free medical care and depending on the level and grade of your position, the contract may also include these benefits for your family.

How to become a RN (Registered Nurse) abroad?
The beginning is to complete graduation in nursing. One may go for B Sc (can follow it up with an M Sc) in nursing or go for Diploma courses associated with nursing. Even male students can take up these courses!

To work abroad, an Indian nurse has to successfully complete the ‘bridging program’ or the ‘adaptation program’ of that particular country abroad. This has to be followed by registering as a nurse in that country via the Nursing Registration Council.

An adaptation/bridging course is nothing, but a sort of assessment. The practical and medical knowledge of the candidate is analyzed, with the help of these courses. The course varies from country to country. This is because of the fact that the nursing methods, diseases, healthcare policies etc varies from country to country.

To work in all these countries, Indian nurses who has to register with local nursing council and meet the pre-requisites of language skills which is required by some western countries with academic excellence & work experience ranging from 1-2 years and above are eligible for registration.

Information on nursing councils of some developed nations-

#1 UK : NMC (Nursing and Midwifery Council) in UK conducts ONP (Overseas Nursing Program) which is bridging program for Indian nurses to become RN in UK. The computer based eligibility test has to be successfully completed in order to pursue the clinical component in UK.

#2 New Zealand: NZNC (New Zealand Nursing Council) is the authority in NZ. It is this board that comes up with Competency Assessment Program ( CAP) for nurses from abroad. One has to pass this program to get registered as a nurse in New Zealand. Upon completion of the prescribed by NZNC the person may work as a RN in New Zealand.

#3 Australia: The Nursing & Midwifery Broad of Australia (NMBA) provides registration for nurses upon completion of Initial Registration for International Nurses & Registered Nurses (IRON and RN) program to obtain the AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency) registration to work as registered nurse in Australia.
An Indian nurse is required to complete a registered nurses program via Initial Registration for International Nurses. After completing it, one may easily get registered at the AHPRA.

#4 Ireland: Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland or an Bard Altranais  Nursing  Board is the Authority for registration of Nurses, after undergoing the prescribed adaptation program in Ireland. This authority board recommends some adaptation courses and programs for Indian nurses to get registered in Ireland. One has to complete the bridging program to proceed to registration process.

#5 Canada and USA: Indian nurses should clear licensure examinations like CRNE/ CPRNE & NCLEX /RN respectively prior working as RN. Also, how well a candidate fares in English language is also checked.

#6 UAE/ DUBAI/QATAR: Indian nurses should clear licensure examinations like/HAAD/ Qatar Prometrics respectively prior working as RN .

Emergence of the Trained Nurses Association of India (TNAI), a professional body in India is working as a government-accredited placement agency is its onward journey towards improving the lot of Nurses placement in the country. Concerned at the exploitative, unethical and deceptive practices of certain unscrupulous agencies operating in this area, TNAI had long been contemplating to provide a safe and fair mechanism to the Nurses, who in increasing numbers, seek employment within the country or abroad.
TNAI brought big relief to the Nurses seeking foreign assignments, who shall be enabled to fulfil their dreams for a modest fee rather than shelling out enormous money to the agents of dubious integrity so far monopolising the employment market. They not only do the placement but also train the nurses to develop the international language system and give their examination
Nurses in India do an incredible job, holding down the front line of medical care. As a graduate nurse one can look at where in the world offers the modern Nurse exciting job opportunities. At various global locations offering up a great lifestyle overseas, where nurses are well rewarded for all their hard work.
